HiFi vs. LoFi Content
And which is best for you as a student-athlete

You probably see all kinds of content daily on social media.
Pictures
Videos
Movie Trailers
Animation
And the list goes on
Regardless of the type of content, it’s usually bucketed into two types: HiFi and LoFi.
What does that mean?
HiFi = High Fidelity
This is content that is professionally produced and edited, and gives a high-end touch to the video. (Think movie trailers, intro videos for teams, etc.)
Here is an example of this type of content.
LoFi = Low Fidelity
This is content that looks more ‘raw’ and takes significantly less effort that HiFi content to produce.
Pretty much all content I create for social media is LoFi. (Here is an example.)
Which is better for student-athletes?
It depends.
Sometimes, a high-definition video really gets your point across. (ie., College commitment video, season highlights.)
However, too much overpolished content on your accounts can be off-putting to your audience, as it may not make you relatable.
Oftentimes, lo-fi is much easier to create content and takes less effort. Additionally, it makes you more relatable to your audience. (ie., Selfie videos, pics taken with your phone.)
There is a time and place for both - so know when to use which type of content for what type of impact you want to make.
Want to make a big splash? Go HiFi.
Want to show people what you did over the past month? LoFi is the way to go.
