News and trends on name, image, and likeness
Hello friends! Welcome to the Sports Court NIL Newsletter where three times per week, I will discuss insights and news related to name, image, and likeness.
Today’s Case
BYU fans can join the school’s football players on an “NIL Cruise”
BYU’s NIL Cruise.
Want to get to know BYU football players on a more personal level? Next month, for $350, you can join select players on a cruise from California to Mexico.
This includes miniature golf, meeting players during meal times, and presumably other fun activities.
The Verdict:
One of the more unique NIL deals I’ve seen, as it combines travel and connecting with players on an extended basis, as opposed to one-off autograph signings, picture opportunities, or a donation to a collective.
The cost alone makes this a great deal: $350 that covers three people on a four-day cruise is pretty budget friendly.
Given players being underage and BYU’s Mormon foundations and culture, don’t see alcohol being served on the cruise (although I could be wrong).
My main question: Will the glizzy be available onboard? (Essentially a large maple donut served at LaVell Edwards Stadium for BYU home games.)
