LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese leads NCAA basketball in NIL deals, has $392,000 NIL valuation

LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese

Fresh off a national championship, LSU’s Angel Reese has signed 17 NIL deals during her collegiate career. Coach, Amazon, JanSport, and Bose are among the brands who have partnered with the Bayou Barbie.

According to On3, her NIL valuation is $392,000, which is more than what she would make in the WNBA on a per-season basis.

Additionally, only four other NCAA Division I athletes have signed more NIL deals than Reese - and none of them play basketball, either men’s or women’s.

The Verdict:

  • Reese is a great example of engaging personality, style on and off the court (eyelash extensions, long pink nails, etc.) and the ability to mix the two to maximize her name, image and likeness.

  • The fact that her Tigers team just won the national championship means that even more deals will come her way.

    • I wouldn’t be surprised to see 1-2 big deals this week on her social media accounts.

  • She also has one year of college basketball remaining, which means she can generate even more money for herself before she goes to the WNBA.

    • As reference, last year’s #1 WNBA draft pick makes ~$70,000 this season, with the top players in the league earning ~$200,000. Therefore, she may actually take a PAYCUT when she goes to the WNBA (Salary only - not including endorsements.)

  • She also filed a trademark for the moniker “Bayou Barbie” which if granted will allow her to sell merchandise with the slogan and monetize accordingly.
