Today’s Case

Pitt women’s basketball first-year guard Jasmine Timmerson was named the spokesperson for the Healthy Athlete program for Connected Health and Athletic Republic Pittsburgh.
Connected Health is a wellness and healthcare provider and primary healthcare facility located in the Pittsburgh suburb of Wexford, PA, and Athletic Republic is a national company specializing in helping athletes reach their fullest potential by improving their strength, speed, agility and overall athleticism.
Timmerson will serve as the face of the Healthy Athlete program for both companies, making her the first NIL athlete to do so. The Healthy Athlete combines the two companies strengths to make sure that athletes are improving in all areas. Connected Health will provide medical care around the clock for these athletes, while Athletic Republic will train these athletes for their respective sports and improve them in all areas.
Timmerson: “Having trained at Athletic Republic for the past five years, I know the positive impact of their services, and that of Connected Health. I’m excited to be the face of their campaign and hope that it encourages other athletes to take this approach with their training and overall health.”
The Verdict:
Combining medical care + athletic improvement is a win-win for athletes
Providing these services outside of what athletic departments and training staffs offer is beneficial, and can help strengthen an athlete’s overall training and performance.
Would like to see more NIL deals focused on mental health
As mental health has take more of a center stage approach in recent years, wouldn’t be surprised if we see an uptick in said deals.
There have been NIL deals focused on mental health with AthleteTalk and LG over the past year.
Major companies in the mental health space such as Talkspace and Cerebral could do NIL deals with athletes, teams, and athletic departments as well, while focusing specifically on athlete mental health and wellness.
