Boilermaker Alliance, GoldandBlack partner to offer unique NIL opportunity

Purdue-focused NIL Collective The Boilermaker Alliance announced a partnership with GoldandBlack.com, the largest Boilermaker online message board community.

With the collaboration, fans can access a new subscription model that offers exclusive content focused on men’s basketball, football, volleyball and women’s basketball. Student-athletes from these teams as part of the collective will earn NIL economic opportunities.

The new membership model features five tiers of subscription, ranging from the Starters Club for $25 per month to the Founders Club, an exclusive club for members who make significant commitments to the Boilermaker Alliance. Subscribers to the membership model will receive a GoldandBlack.com premium membership and access to additional exclusive content produced by the website.

In addition to unique content, subscribers will have access to an exclusive Boilermaker Alliance message board that will house the content and exclusive messaging from the BA.

GoldandBlack.com president Alan Karpick: “We are excited to begin this collaboration with the Boilermaker Alliance. GoldandBlack.com is committed to bringing the best content to our subscribers and all Purdue fans. Our partnership with BA is going to help us achieve that goal. We look forward to taking that behind-the-scenes access to new levels and are eager to get started.”

The Verdict:

  • The tie-in between a collective and a message board is interesting

    • The link between fan support via money and exclusive content is a good way to not only tap into videos, images, etc. that non-supports don’t have access to, but can put some NIL dollars in the pockets of these athletes.

      • Will it cause an influx of Boilermaker fans to donate to the collective monthly? Maybe - but anyone who donates their money solely because of this partnership indicates the partnership’s success.

  • Exclusive content from a collective will provide big value to supporters

    • Ohio State’s The 1870 Society offers similar content (including a members-only podcast with head football coach Ryan Day).

      • Fans love dedicated content - and if athletes can get a percentage of it via donations to the collective, everyone wins.
