Today’s Case

In an NIL partnership with Kellogg‘s Frosted Flakes and the brand’s Mission Tiger program, Penn State sophomore quarterback Drew Allar presented a $30,000 donation to Pennsylvania middle schools. The QB also spent time with fans, played games and participated in a meet and greet.
Allar and North Carolina forward Armando Bacot, who previously partnered with Frosted Flakes and its Mission Tiger program, are part of a summertime tour across the country that Mission Tiger organized, which includes events held at various grocery stores.
Kellogg Company Senior Director of Brand Marketing Laura Newman: “Kids are quitting sports by age 11 due to an economic crunch that cuts access and opportunities for them to play and just have fun. Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes understands the vital role both fun and funding play in keeping kids in the game, so we’ve called on some of the most fun and talented college athletes to join our Mission Tiger team to help us bring fun back to youth sports and deliver donations to local middle schools.”
The Verdict:
Always love seeing NIL used for good
Not only does Allar provide a big sum of money to Pennsylvania middle schools, it also presents him in a positive light that he’s willing to give back to the community.
This sign of goodwill should bring forth additional NIL partnerships.
The focus on middle schools specifically is interesting - and makes sense
As noted in the article, resources and opportunities during middle school years makes it harder for these young students to continue playing sports, so having this donation provides a big boost into reversing the situation.
Could see a potential long-term relationship between Allar and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes
Allar could host summer camps next year with Kellogg’s as a presenting sponsor.
This would allow Allar to earn NIL revenue while connecting with young athletes. Win-win.
Frosted Flakes merchandise featuring Allar could also be a possibility.
