Today’s Case
Duke Men’s Basketball Announces 312 Run in Chicago

Ahead of the the 2023-2024 season, Duke men's basketball program is providing a unique opportunity for fans to see the team in action for the first time together and enjoy other exclusive events with current and former Blue Devils.
On Saturday, July 29, the 312 Run (one of Chicago’s area codes) will take place in the Windy City and will serve as a significant NIL opportunity for the team. It has been organized and coordinated by the current players, who will benefit from the proceeds.
The event includes a court-side seat to watch the team in action for the first time, an on-court photo experience and a meet-and-greet with the Blue Devils. Also included is a private dinner with the team and Chicago-native head coach Jon Scheyer, along with former players and other friends of the program.
The Verdict:
Love the unique set-up of the event, with Duke MBB taking NIL into their own hands
The team’s main collective is TheBrotherhood.live which is a player owned and operated organization.
The fact that this is not only a very entrepreneurial approach, but that it’s created by the players for the players is outstanding, and it gives the group more control on merchandise, content, access, etc.
Additionally, all profit generated will be split amongst the team, ensuring every athlete earns NIL money.
REALLY steep price tag makes this event extremely exclusive
This event will cost fans $2,500 per ticket, which means only people with that type of disposable income will be attending. (Presumably wealthy Duke alum.)
Moreso, this event may serve as a fundraiser of sorts for TheBrotherhood.live and Duke basketball, so the high dollar entry access will help with getting big donors into the event for significant NIL donations.
Putting on the event (far) away from campus is smart
Having the event in Chicago (where numerous Duke alum reside and work, I assume) is not only a good way to road show the team, but to broaden connections and relations for potential NIL deals in the future.
College athletes can earn NIL deals with athleticwear companies other than their school outfitter!
With stipulations, of course. Check out this video for more insight!
